Stat. tit. 63, § 63-1-2506.2","heading":"Prescription for opioid antagonists for family","body":"members - Liability.\n\nA. As used in this section, “emergency opioid antagonist” means\n\na drug including, but not limited to, naloxone that blocks the\n\neffects of opioids and that is approved by the United States Food\n\nand Drug Administration for the treatment of an opioid overdose.\n\nB. Upon request, a provider may prescribe an emergency opioid\n\nantagonist to an individual for use by that individual when\n\nencountering a family member exhibiting signs of an opioid overdose.\n\nC. When an emergency opioid antagonist is prescribed in\n\naccordance with subsection B of this section, the provider shall\n\nprovide:\n\n1. Information on how to spot symptoms of an overdose;\n\n2. Instruction in basic resuscitation techniques;\n\n3. Instruction on proper emergency opioid antagonist\n\nadministration; and\n\n4. The importance of calling 9-1-1 for help.\n\nD. Any family member who administers an emergency opioid\n\nantagonist in good faith and in a manner consistent with addressing\n\nopioid overdose shall not be liable for any civil damages as a\n\nresult of any acts or omissions by such family member in\n\nadministering such emergency opioid antagonist.\n\nE. Any provider who prescribes or administers an opioid\n\nantagonist in good faith and in a manner consistent with addressing\n\nopioid overdose shall not be liable for any civil damages as a\n\nresult of any acts or omissions by such provider except for\n\ncommitting gross negligence or willful wanton wrongs in prescribing\n\nor administering such emergency opioid antagonist.","path":["OK Code","Title 63"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os63.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"893f2a69e64c3f2a7d06313fcf1103d130bf5512c96ae46a59259fc7fc5b7c6f","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-1-2506.1","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-1-2509"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
