Stat. tit. 63, § 63-1-2530.8","heading":"Recognition and certification of trauma transfer and","body":"referral centers - Rules establishing minimum standards - Data -\n\nFunding.\n\nA. The State Department of Health shall recognize and certify a\n\ntrauma transfer and referral center in each county and contiguous\n\ncommunities with populations in excess of three hundred thousand\n\n(300,000) persons for the purpose of directing ambulance patients to\n\nfacilities with the clinical capacity and capability to\n\nappropriately care for the emergent medical needs of a patient.\n\nB. The State Board of Health, giving consideration to the\n\nrecommendations of the Trauma and Emergency Response Advisory\n\nCouncil created in Section 44 of this act, shall promulgate rules\n\nestablishing minimum certification standards for such centers which\n\nshall include, but not be limited to, staff certification, data\n\nmanagement and communications equipment, medical control and\n\noversight, record keeping, quality improvement activities, and such\n\nother issues as the State Commissioner of Health deems appropriate.\n\nC. Certified centers shall submit data as required by the\n\nDepartment for the purpose of trauma system continuous quality\n\nimprovement activities. Such reports shall be confidential as\n\nprovided in Section 1-2530.7 of this title.\n\nD. The Board, giving consideration to the recommendations of\n\nthe Trauma and Emergency Response Advisory Council created in\n\nSection 44 of this act, shall promulgate rules requiring emergency\n\nmedical services providers to contact the appropriate regional\n\ntrauma transfer and referral center while transporting injured\n\npatients into or within that region in order to ensure that patients\n\nare directed to the appropriate hospital based on the regional plan\n\nand the current capability and capacity of hospitals in the system.\n\nE.
