Stat. tit. 63, § 63-1-2550","heading":"Article I — Purpose","body":"Recognition of EMS Personnel Licensure Interstate Compact\n\nARTICLE I\n\nPurpose\n\nTo protect the public through verification of competency and\n\nensure accountability for patient care-related activities all state-\n\nlicensed emergency medical services (EMS) personnel, such as\n\nemergency medical technicians (EMTs), advanced EMTs, and paramedics.\n\nThis Compact is intended to facilitate the day-to-day movement of\n\nEMS personnel across state boundaries in the performance of their\n\nEMS duties as assigned by an appropriate authority and authorize\n\nstate EMS offices to afford immediate legal recognition to EMS\n\npersonnel licensed in a member state. This Compact recognizes that\n\nstates have a vested interest in protecting the public's health and\n\nsafety through their licensing and regulation of EMS personnel and\n\nthat such state regulation shared among the member states will best\n\nprotect public health and safety. This Compact is designed to\n\nachieve the following purposes and objectives:\n\n1. Increase public access to EMS personnel;\n\n2. Enhance the states' ability to protect the public's health\n\nand safety, especially patient safety;\n\n3. Encourage the cooperation of member states in the areas of\n\nEMS personnel licensure and regulation;\n\n4. Support licensing of military members who are separating\n\nfrom an active duty tour and their spouses;\n\n5. Facilitate the exchange of information between member states\n\nregarding EMS personnel licensure, adverse action, and significant\n\ninvestigatory information;\n\n6. Promote compliance with the laws governing EMS personnel\n\npractice in each member state; and\n\n7.
