Stat. tit. 63, § 63-1-2551","heading":"Article II — Definitions","body":"ARTICLE II\n\nDefinitions\n\nAs used in this Compact:\n\n1. \"Advanced emergency medical technician (AEMT)\" means an\n\nindividual licensed with cognitive knowledge and a scope of practice\n\nthat corresponds to that level in the National EMS Education\n\nStandards and National EMS Scope of Practice Model;\n\n2. \"Adverse action\" means any administrative, civil, equitable,\n\nor criminal action permitted by a state's laws which may be imposed\n\nagainst licensed EMS personnel by a state EMS authority or state\n\ncourt, including, but not limited to, actions against an\n\nindividual's license such as revocation, suspension, probation,\n\nconsent agreement, monitoring, or other limitation or encumbrance on\n\nthe individual's practice, letters of reprimand or admonition,\n\nfines, criminal convictions, and state court judgments enforcing\n\nadverse actions by the state EMS authority;\n\n3. \"Alternative program\" means a voluntary, nondisciplinary\n\nsubstance abuse recovery program approved by a state EMS authority;\n\n4. \"Certification\" means the successful verification of entry-\n\nlevel cognitive and psychomotor competency using a reliable,\n\nvalidated, and legally defensible examination;\n\n5. \"Commission\" means the national administrative body of which\n\nall states that have enacted the Compact are members;\n\n6. \"Emergency medical technician (EMT)\" means an individual\n\nlicensed with cognitive knowledge and a scope of practice that\n\ncorresponds to that level in the National EMS Education Standards\n\nand National EMS Scope of Practice Model;\n\n7. \"Home state\" means a member state where an individual is\n\nlicensed to practice emergency medical services;\n\n8. \"License\" means the authorization by a state for an\n\nindividual to practice as an EMT, AEMT, paramedic, or a level in\n\nbetween EMT and paramedic;\n\n9. \"Medical director\" means a physician licensed in a member\n\nstate who is accountable for the care delivered by EMS personnel;\n\n10. \"Member state\" means a state that has enacted this Compact;\n\n11. \"Privilege to practice\" means an individual's authority to\n\ndeliver emergency medical services in remote states as authorized\n\nunder this Compact;\n\n12. \"Paramedic\" means an individual licensed with cognitive\n\nknowledge and a scope of practice that corresponds to that level in\n\nthe National EMS Education Standards and National EMS Scope of\n\nPractice Model;\n\n13. \"Remote state\" means a member state in which an individual\n\nis not licensed;\n\n14. \"Restricted\" means the outcome of an adverse action that\n\nlimits a license or the privilege to practice;\n\n15. \"Rule\" means a written statement by the Interstate\n\nCommission promulgated pursuant to Section 12 of this Compact that\n\nis of general applicability; implements, interprets, or prescribes a\n\npolicy or provision of the Compact; or is an organizational,\n\nprocedural, or practice requirement of the Commission and has the\n\nforce and effect of statutory law in a member state and includes the\n\namendment, repeal, or suspension of an existing rule;\n\n16. \"Scope of practice\" means defined parameters of various\n\nduties or services that may be provided by an individual with\n\nspecific credentials. Whether regulated by rule, statute, or court\n\ndecision, it tends to represent the limits of services an individual\n\nmay perform;\n\n17. \"Significant investigatory information\" means:\n\na. investigative information that a state EMS authority,\n\nafter a preliminary inquiry that includes notification\n\nand an opportunity to respond if required by state\n\nlaw, has reason to believe, if proved true, would\n\nresult in the imposition of an adverse action on a\n\nlicense or privilege to practice, or\n\nb. investigative information that indicates that the\n\nindividual represents an immediate threat to public\n\nhealth and safety regardless of whether the individual\n\nhas been notified and had an opportunity to respond;\npportunity to respond if required by state\n\nlaw, has reason to believe, if proved true, would\n\nresult in the imposition of an adverse action on a\n\nlicense or privilege to practice, or\n\nb. investigative information that indicates that the\n\nindividual represents an immediate threat to public\n\nhealth and safety regardless of whether the individual\n\nhas been notified and had an opportunity to respond;\n\n18. \"State\" means any state, commonwealth, district, or\n\nterritory of the United States; and\n\n19. \"State EMS authority\" means the board, office, or other\n\nagency with the legislative mandate to license EMS personnel.","path":["OK Code","Title 63"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os63.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"cd4e576e40cb1d7224566bc401ef640806d9cb9f0894e84adc73f825f3b76c34","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-1-2550","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-1-2552"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
