The Health Care Workforce Training Commission shall\n\nadminister the Oklahoma Medical Loan Repayment Program.\n\n2. For the purposes of this section, \"primary care physicians\"\n\nshall mean physicians practicing in family medicine, geriatrics,\n\ngeneral internal medicine, general pediatrics,\n\nobstetrics/gynecology, emergency medicine, or general surgery.\n\n3. For the purposes of this section, \"health center\" shall mean\n\na Federally Qualified Health Center as defined by 42 U.S.C., Section\n\n1905(1)(2)(B).\n\n4. For the purposes of this section, \"teaching health center\"\n\nshall mean a health center that supports the residencies of primary\n\ncare physicians within the operations of the health center.\n\n5. The program, depending upon and limited to available\n\nfunding, shall provide educational loan repayment assistance to\n\nOklahoma-licensed primary care physicians, physician assistants, and\n\ncertified nurse practitioners who agree to establish a practice in a\n\ncommunity located in Oklahoma approved by the Commission.\n\n6. Each award of educational loan repayment assistance shall be\n\nfor a contracted period and shall be distributed to the participant\n\nby drafts made payable to the participant at the end of each\n\ncontract year with disbursements not to exceed an amount to be\n\nestablished annually by the Commission. Prior to any disbursement,\n\nthe Commission shall certify and properly review reports submitted\n\nby the participating physician, physician assistant, or certified\n\nnurse practitioner detailing performance of activities in accordance\n\nwith the program.\n\n7. The Commission shall review the performance in the program\n\nof the participating physician, physician assistant, or certified\n\nnurse practitioner and determine whether an award may be granted for\n\nadditional years pursuant to rules promulgated by the Commission.\n\nB. The physicians, physician assistants, and certified nurse\n\npractitioners entering the program each year shall agree to provide\n\nmedical care and services in areas designated by the Commission to\n\nprovide medical care and services to Medicaid recipients as\n\nauthorized by the Oklahoma Health Care Authority.\n\nC. A physician, physician assistant, or certified nurse\n\npractitioner shall be eligible to participate in the loan repayment\n\nprogram if the individual:\n\n1. Is a physician, physician assistant, or certified nurse\n\npractitioner who holds a current Oklahoma medical license;\n\n2. Is a new primary care graduate physician, physician\n\nassistant, or certified nurse practitioner. Preference will be\n\ngiven to graduates of the primary care residency programs affiliated\n\nwith the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine,\n\nthe University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, and the teaching\n\nhospitals affiliated with both schools of medicine and teaching\n\nhealth centers located in this state; or\n\n3. Is a current practicing physician, physician assistant, or\n\ncertified nurse practitioner and has met criteria established by the\n\nCommission.\n\nD. The Commission may accept donations of public or private\n\nfunds to assist in funding the Oklahoma Medical Loan Repayment\n\nProgram. The Commission may, at its discretion, contract with other\n\npublic entities and nonprofit corporations for the endowment,\n\nmanagement and administration of such funds.\n\nE. The Commission shall present a report on the operation of\n\nthe program to the Governor, the Speaker of the Oklahoma House of\n\nRepresentatives, and the President Pro Tempore of the Oklahoma State\n\nSenate within one (1) month of the beginning of each regular session\n\nof the Legislature, including but not limited to the progress made\n\nin accomplishing the goal of the program.","path":["OK Code","Title 63"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os63.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"5e11a34cf5c36785d0068ae6fffec570414c88437ca831e3365cca11ec486e42","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-1-2720","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-1-2722"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
