Stat. tit. 63, § 63-1-317d","heading":"Sudden unexplained infant death investigation (SUIDI)","body":"\n\nA. When the death of an infant occurs in this state and the\n\ncause of death is considered undetermined, a medical examiner shall\n\nconduct a sudden unexplained infant death investigation (SUIDI) not\n\nmore than forty-eight (48) hours after the death has occurred. The\n\nmedical examiner or a medical examiner investigator currently\n\ncertified by the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators\n\nshall interview the parent, legal guardian or caregiver of, or\n\nperson who last had contact with, the deceased infant and shall fill\n\nout the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's SUIDI reporting\n\nform accordingly. The State Department of Health shall retain a\n\ncopy of each completed SUIDI reporting form in order to compile\n\naccurate and reliable data on SUIDI to aid and inform the policies\n\nof the Department, and the Department shall provide a copy of each\n\ncompleted SUIDI reporting form to the Child Death Review Board.\n\nB.
