Stat. tit. 63, § 63-1-501","heading":"Definitions","body":"For the purposes of this article:\n\n(a) The term \"disease\" means the disturbances of the normal\n\nfunctions or alterations of the state of the human body resulting in\n\nphysical or mental ill health and/or disability.\n\n(b) The term \"prevention\" means any and all conditions that may\n\npreclude or reduce the possibility of the onset or beginning of\n\ndisease.\n\n(c) The term \"control\" means any and all procedures which\n\nmodify, or may modify, favorably the course of disease.\n\n(d) The term \"communicable disease\" means an illness due to a\n\nspecific infectious agent or its toxic products, arising through\n\ntransmission of that agent or its products from reservoir to\n\nsusceptible host, either directly as from an infected person or\n\nanimal, or indirectly through the agent of an intermediate plant or\n\nanimal host, a vector, or the inanimate environment.
