Every physician, physician assistant, or Advanced Practice\n\nRegistered Nurse attending a pregnant woman in this state during\n\ngestation shall, in the case of each woman so attended, take or\n\ncause to be taken a sample of blood of such woman, and shall submit\n\nsuch sample to an approved laboratory for a standard serological\n\ntest for syphilis, when indicated by current guidance of the Centers\n\nfor Disease Control and Prevention.\n\nB. Every other person permitted by law to attend upon pregnant\n\nwomen in the state but not permitted by law to take blood tests\n\nshall cause a sample of the blood of such pregnant woman to be taken\n\nby a duly licensed physician, physician assistant, or Advanced\n\nPractice Registered Nurse, licensed to practice in this state, and\n\nsubmitted to an approved laboratory for a standard serological test\n\nfor syphilis.\n\nC. The term “approved laboratory” shall mean a laboratory\n\napproved for the purposes of this section by the State Commissioner\n\nof Health. A standard serological test for syphilis shall be one\n\nrecognized as such by the Commissioner.
