This act shall be known and may be cited as the “Newborn\n\nInfant Hearing Screening Act”.\n\nB. Every infant born in this state shall be screened for the\n\ndetection of congenital or acquired hearing loss prior to discharge\n\nfrom the facility where the infant was born. A physician,\n\naudiologist or other qualified person shall administer such\n\nscreening procedure in accordance with accepted medical practices\n\nand in the manner prescribed by the State Board of Health. If an\n\ninfant requires emergency transfer to another facility for neonatal\n\ncare, such screening procedure shall be administered by the\n\nreceiving facility prior to discharge of the infant.\n\nC. The State Board of Health shall promulgate rules necessary\n\nto enact the provisions of this act. The State Commissioner of\n\nHealth shall develop procedures and guidelines for screening for the\n\ndetection of congenital or acquired hearing loss.\n\nD. Any durable medical equipment purchased or supplied by the\n\nState Department of Health for the purpose of being permanently or\n\ntemporarily fitted for use by a specific child shall not be deemed\n\nor considered to be a “tangible asset” as that term is defined in\n\nSection 110.1 of Title 74 of the Oklahoma Statutes and, once fitted\n\nto a specific child, shall be deemed thereafter to have minimal or\n\nno value to the Department for purposes of further disposition\n\npursuant to the Oklahoma Central Purchasing Act.","path":["OK Code","Title 63"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os63.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"71b7203534fe318d675e12b969a3135c0bfd24f78db8aceec44010596cac0287","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-1-542","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-1-543.3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
