Sections 1 through 5 of this act shall be known and may be\n\ncited as the \"Oklahoma Prenatal Addiction Act.\"\n\nB. It is the finding of the Oklahoma Legislature that the state\n\nhas a substantial interest in protecting children from the harm that\n\nresults from the abuse of drugs or alcohol by their mothers during\n\npregnancy, both for the sake of the child and because of the\n\npotential cost to the state in providing medical and other care to\n\nsuch children. The Legislature recognizes that the preferable and\n\nmost effective means of preventing birth defects and health problems\n\ndue to substance abuse by pregnant women is to provide readily\n\navailable and accessible prenatal care and appropriate substance\n\nabuse treatment services, but further recognizes that in some\n\ninstances it may be necessary to use the authority of the state to\n\nintervene for the purpose of preserving and protecting the health\n\nand well-being of the child.","path":["OK Code","Title 63"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os63.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"55b56b076f47b0e334b1497034c351d2acb764bcaf41b53d4deb3b95d8dfb4e7","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-1-545","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-1-546.4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
