If funds are available, the Oklahoma Medical Center shall\n\ndesign and implement a statewide general public education program\n\nconcerning:\n\n1. The need for bone marrow donors;\n\n2. The procedures required to become registered as a potential\n\nbone marrow donor, including procedures for determining the tissue\n\ntype of a person; and\n\n3. The medical procedures a donor must undergo to donate bone\n\nmarrow or other sources of blood stem cells.\n\nB. If funds are available, the Oklahoma Medical Center shall\n\nmake special efforts to educate and recruit citizens of this state\n\nwith a special emphasis on minority populations to volunteer as\n\npotential bone marrow donors. Means of communication may include,\n\nbut not be limited to, use of newspapers, radio and television, and\n\nplacement of educational materials in appropriate health care\n\nfacilities, blood banks and agencies of the state and political\n\nsubdivisions of the state.
