The Legislature recognizes that:\n\n1. Childhood obesity poses a major risk to the health and\n\nfuture of Oklahoma’s children, and this challenge must be addressed\n\nthrough a comprehensive approach that includes parents, schools,\n\nchild care providers, community- and faith-based organizations,\n\nhealth care professionals, civic leaders and many others; and\n\n2. Evidence-based nutrition education and increased physical\n\nactivity are well-established means of addressing the problem, but\n\nnot all Oklahoma families are able to take advantage of\n\nopportunities to provide these benefits for their children.\n\nB. It is the intent of the State Legislature that support shall\n\nbe provided to established afterschool programs to fully integrate\n\nevidence-based obesity prevention and reduction curriculum that\n\nincludes structured opportunities for increasing physical activity\n\nand promoting healthy eating and nutrition habits.\n\nC.
