In order to combat the increasing rate of childhood obesity\n\nin the state, the State Department of Health shall create the\n\nQuality Afterschool Opportunities Initiative to Reduce Childhood\n\nObesity and Improve Academic Performance. This initiative shall\n\nestablish and maintain a program to award grants, should funds\n\nbecome available, to comprehensive, community-based afterschool\n\nprograms that include evidence-based obesity reduction components.\n\nB. The Department shall, at a minimum:\n\n1. Develop an application process;\n\n2. Determine minimum eligibility requirements for applicants;\n\n3. Develop procedures and criteria for awarding grants; and\n\n4. Determine the minimum and maximum amounts to be awarded.\n\nC.
