Stat. tit. 63, § 63-1-722","heading":"Electronic- or computer-generated signatures of","body":"physician.\n\nElectronic- or computer-generated signatures of a physician are\n\nacceptable as authentication and may be used in any place in the\n\nmedical record where a physician's signature is required, including,\n\nbut not limited to, all medical orders, if the signature is\n\ngenerated by a confidential code which only the user possesses and\n\nthe following safeguards are adhered to:\n\n1. The physician signs and then files a statement in the\n\nhospital administrator's office which states that:\n\na. the physician will use an electronic- or computer-\n\ngenerated signature to authenticate his entries in the\n\nmedical record,\n\nb. the signature will be generated by a confidential code\n\nwhich only the physician possesses, and\n\nc. no person other than the physician will be permitted\n\nto use the signature;\n\n2. The physician's use of an electronic- or computer-generated\n\nsignature is approved in writing by the hospital's administrator and\n\nmedical record committee;\n\n3. The electronic- or computer-generated signature is the full,\n\nlegal name of the physician and includes the physician's\n\nprofessional title; and\n\n4.
