As used in this section, the term:\n\n1. \"Human cloning\" means human asexual reproduction,\n\naccomplished by introducing the nuclear material of a human somatic\n\ncell into a fertilized or unfertilized oocyte whose nucleus has been\n\nremoved or inactivated to produce a living organism (at any stage of\n\ndevelopment) with a human genetic constitution;\n\n2. \"Somatic cell\" means a diploid cell (having a complete set\n\nof chromosomes) obtained or derived from a living or deceased human\n\nbody at any stage of development;\n\n3. \"Nucleus\" means the cell structure that houses the\n\nchromosomes, and thus the genes; and\n\n4. \"Oocyte\" means the female germ cell, the egg.\n\nB. It shall be unlawful for any person or entity, public or\n\nprivate, to:\n\n1. Perform or attempt to perform human cloning;\n\n2. Participate in an attempt to perform human cloning;\n\n3. Ship, transfer, or receive the product of human cloning for\n\nany purpose; or\n\n4. Import the product of human cloning for any purpose.\n\nC. Nothing in this section shall restrict areas of scientific\n\nresearch not specifically prohibited by this section, including\n\nresearch in the use of nuclear transfer or other cloning techniques\n\nto produce molecules, DNA, cells other than human embryos, tissues,\n\norgans, plants, or animals other than humans.\n\nD.
