No person shall perform or induce an abortion upon a\n\npregnant woman without first detecting whether or not her unborn\n\nchild has a heartbeat. No person shall perform or induce an\n\nabortion upon a pregnant woman after such time as her unborn child\n\nhas been determined to have a detectable heartbeat except if, in\n\nreasonable medical judgment, she has a condition that so complicates\n\nher medical condition that it necessitates the abortion of her\n\npregnancy to avert her death or to avert serious risk of substantial\n\nand irreversible physical impairment of a major bodily function, not\n\nincluding psychological or emotional conditions. No such condition\n\nmay be determined to exist if it is based on a claim or diagnosis\n\nthat the woman will engage in conduct which she intends to result in\n\nher death or in substantial and irreversible physical impairment of\n\na major bodily function.\n\nB. A \"detectable heartbeat\" shall mean embryonic or fetal\n\ncardiac activity or the steady or repetitive rhythmic contract of\n\nthe heart within the gestational sac.\n\nC. \"Reasonable medical judgment\" means a medical judgment that\n\nwould be made by a reasonably prudent physician, knowledgeable about\n\nthe case and the treatment possibilities with respect to the medical\n\nconditions involved.\n\nD.
