Stat. tit. 63, § 63-1-740.16","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in the Choosing Childbirth Act:\n\n1. “Abortion” means the use or prescription of any instrument,\n\nmedicine, drug or any other substance or device to intentionally:\n\na. kill the unborn child of a woman known to be pregnant,\n\nor\n\nb. terminate the pregnancy of a woman known to be\n\npregnant, with an intention other than:\n\n(1) after viability of the unborn child, to produce a\n\nlive birth and preserve the life and health of\n\nthe child born alive, or\n\n(2) to remove a dead unborn child;\n\n2. “Unborn child” means an individual organism of the species\n\nHomo sapiens from fertilization until birth; and\n\n3. “Grant-supervising entity” means a private entity which\n\napproves all grants made under the Choosing Childbirth Act that are\n\nnot directly made to private organizations by the State Department\n\nof Health for reimbursement of services provided under the Choosing\n\nChildbirth Act and which:\n\na. is organized as a not-for-profit corporation in\n\nOklahoma and as a 501(c)3 entity under the federal\n\nInternal Revenue Code, and\n\nb. does not encourage or counsel any woman to have an\n\nabortion not necessary to prevent her death, to\n\nprovide her such an abortion or to refer her for such\n\nan abortion, and does not accept funds or services\n\nknowingly from any entity which performs abortions or\n\nreceives money for abortions.","path":["OK Code","Title 63"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os63.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"7ad52571502087489b738e066e8db0221d7e414704104113df6b178765fda243","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-1-740.15","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-1-740.17"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
