Stat. tit. 63, § 63-1-757.7","heading":"Certification system for physicians","body":"The State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision and the\n\nState Board of Osteopathic Examiners shall adopt a certification\n\nsystem for any physician intending to provide abortion-inducing\n\ndrugs to patients in the state. Individuals or physicians providing\n\nabortion-inducing drugs in other states are not automatically\n\ncertified in this state, and shall be fully certified under this law\n\nprior to providing any abortion-inducing drugs to any pregnant women\n\nin this state. To be eligible to be certified under this section\n\nphysicians shall:\n\n1. Be fully licensed by and in good standing with either the\n\nState Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision or the State Board\n\nof Osteopathic Examiners to practice medicine in the state;\n\n2. Examine any patient in person prior to providing abortion-\n\ninducing drugs;\n\n3. Sign an annual \"Dispensing Agreement Form\", to be developed\n\nand provided by the physician's state licensing board, before\n\nproviding abortion-inducing drugs;\n\n4. Inform the patient of gestational age-specific risks of\n\nusing abortion-inducing drugs;\n\n5. Assess for signs of domestic abuse, reproductive control,\n\nhuman trafficking and other signals of coerced abortion, per current\n\nstate guidelines;\n\n6. Adequately inform the patient of gestational age-specific\n\nage risks of using abortion-inducing drugs;\n\n7. Inform the patient that she may see the remains of her\n\nunborn child in the process of completing the abortion;\n\n8. Inform the patient that studies show that babies born\n\nfollowing the abortion reversal process have a rate of birth defects\n\nno higher than the general population;\n\n9. Inform the patient that studies show that following this\n\nreversal process or otherwise treating a woman with progesterone\n\nduring pregnancy does not lead to increased mortality rates;\n\n10. Refrain from knowingly supplying abortion-inducing drugs to\n\npatients who present with any of the following:\n\na. absence of a pregnancy,\n\nb. being post-seventy days gestation or post-ten weeks of\n\npregnancy, and\n\nc. having risk factors associated with abortion-inducing\n\ndrugs including, but not limited to:\n\n(1) ectopic pregnancies,\n\n(2) problems with the adrenal glands near the\n\nkidneys,\n\n(3) being treated with long-term corticosteroid\n\ntherapy,\n\n(4) allergic reactions to abortion-inducing drugs,\n\nmifepristone, misoprostol or similar drugs,\n\n(5) bleeding problems or is taking anticoagulant drug\n\nproducts,\n\n(6) has inherited porphyria,\n\n(7) has an intrauterine device in place, or\n\n(8) being Rh Negative, requiring administration of\n\nRhogam before providing abortion-inducing drugs;\n\n11. Provide or refer for emergency surgical intervention in\n\ncases of incomplete abortion, severe bleeding or other medical\n\ncomplications, through maintaining hospital admitting privileges or\n\nentering into a written agreement with an associated physician as\n\nspecified in Section 8 of this act;\n\n12. Assure patient access to medical facilities equipped to\n\nprovide blood transfusions and resuscitation or other necessary\n\ntreatments, if necessary;\n\n13. Sign, and ensure that the patient signs, all legally\n\nrequired informed consent material, providing patient with a copy\n\nshowing both signatures, and placing the original in the patient's\n\nmedical record;\n\n14. Record the serial number from each package of each\n\nabortion-inducing drug given to the patient in her medical record;\n\n15. Submit a written protocol of how efforts will be made to\n\nschedule with the patient the medically indicated follow-up\n\nappointment within fourteen (14) days to assure a completed\n\nabortion;\n\n16. Report to the State Board of Pharmacy, the physician's\n\nstate licensing board and the Food and Drug Administration, any\n\ndeath associated with abortion-inducing drugs with the following\n\nguidelines:\n\na. the patient shall be noted by a non-identifiable\nlow-up\n\nappointment within fourteen (14) days to assure a completed\n\nabortion;\n\n16. Report to the State Board of Pharmacy, the physician's\n\nstate licensing board and the Food and Drug Administration, any\n\ndeath associated with abortion-inducing drugs with the following\n\nguidelines:\n\na. the patient shall be noted by a non-identifiable\n\nreference and the serial number from each package of\n\nabortion-inducing drug given, whether or not\n\nconsidered drug-related,\n\nb. this shall be done as soon as possible but no later\n\nthan fifteen (15) calendar days from the initial\n\nreceipt of the information by the physician, and\n\nc. this requirement does not affect the physician's other\n\nreporting and follow-up requirements under the\n\nOklahoma Abortion-Inducing Drug Certification Program\n\nor any additional requirements by another department\n\nthat oversees the abortion industry in this state;\n\n17. Submit a written protocol of how complications will be\n\nhandled by the certified physician and submit a copy of a signed\n\ncontract with an associated physician credentialed to handle certain\n\ncomplications as outlined in Section 8 of this act;\n\n18. Abide by all applicable state and federal laws regarding\n\nmedical records retention, confidentiality and privacy; and\n\n19. Agree to follow and document compliance with all other\n\nlegally required conditions for performing abortion in the state\n\nwhere the patient presents for her appointment including, but not\n\nlimited to, waiting periods, informed consent requirements,\n\nstatistical reporting, parental consent or notification and required\n\ninspections.","path":["OK Code","Title 63"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os63.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"e9574cfc8917adae41ee93c8830e9d14494aa709b3b92964b392b549d160bced","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-1-757.6","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-1-757.8"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
