Stat. tit. 63, § 63-2-312v1","heading":"Physicians, podiatrists, optometrists, dentists,","body":"veterinarians and advanced practice nurses - Authority to prescribe,\n\nadminister or dispense.\n\nA. A physician, podiatrist, optometrist or a dentist who has\n\ncomplied with the registration requirements of the Uniform\n\nControlled Dangerous Substances Act, in good faith and in the course\n\nof such person's professional practice only, may prescribe and\n\nadminister controlled dangerous substances, or may cause the same to\n\nbe administered by medical or paramedical personnel acting under the\n\ndirection and supervision of the physician, podiatrist, optometrist\n\nor dentist, and only may dispense controlled dangerous substances\n\npursuant to the provisions of Sections 355.1 and 355.2 of Title 59\n\nof the Oklahoma Statutes.\n\nB. A veterinarian who has complied with the registration\n\nrequirements of the Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substances Act, in\n\ngood faith and in the course of the professional practice of the\n\nveterinarian only, and not for use by a human being, may prescribe,\n\nadminister, and dispense controlled dangerous substances and may\n\ncause them to be administered by an assistant or orderly under the\n\ndirection and supervision of the veterinarian.\n\nC. An advanced practice nurse who is recognized to prescribe by\n\nthe Oklahoma Board of Nursing as an advanced registered nurse\n\npractitioner, clinical nurse specialist or certified nurse-midwife,\n\nwho is subject to medical direction by a supervising physician,\n\npursuant to Section 567.3a of Title 59 of the Oklahoma Statutes, and\n\nwho has complied with the registration requirements of the Uniform\n\nControlled Dangerous Substances Act, in good faith and in the course\n\nof professional practice only, may prescribe and administer Schedule\n\nIII, IV and V controlled dangerous substances.\n\nD. An advanced practice nurse who is recognized to order,\n\nselect, obtain and administer drugs by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing\n\nas a certified registered nurse anesthetist pursuant to Section\n\n353.1b of Title 59 of the Oklahoma Statutes and who has complied\n\nwith the registration requirements of the Uniform Controlled\n\nDangerous Substances Act, in good faith and in the course of such\n\npractitioner's professional practice only, may order, select, obtain\n\nand administer Schedules II through V controlled dangerous\n\nsubstances in a preanesthetic preparation or evaluation; anesthesia\n\ninduction, maintenance or emergence; or postanesthesia care setting\n\nonly. A certified registered nurse anesthetist may order, select,\n\nobtain and administer such drugs only during the perioperative or\n\nperiobstetrical period.\n\nE. A physician assistant who is recognized to prescribe by the\n\nState Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision under Section 519.6\n\nof Title 59 of the Oklahoma Statutes, and who has complied with the\n\nregistration requirements of the Uniform Controlled Dangerous\n\nSubstances Act, in good faith and in the course of professional\n\npractice only, may prescribe and administer Schedule II through V\n\ncontrolled dangerous substances subject to the restrictions in\n\nSection 519.6 of Title 59 of the Oklahoma Statutes.","path":["OK Code","Title 63"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os63.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"66460254ead93e2e09b0353649033f291819308e020dc2b765f83f64235eb3c4","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-2-312.2","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-2-312v2"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
