Stat. tit. 63, § 63-2-312v2","heading":"Physicians, podiatrists, optometrists, dentists,","body":"veterinarians and advanced practice nurses - Authority to prescribe,\n\nadminister or dispense.\n\nA. A physician, podiatrist, optometrist, or a dentist who has\n\ncomplied with the registration requirements of the Uniform\n\nControlled Dangerous Substances Act, in good faith and in the course\n\nof such person’s professional practice only, may prescribe and\n\nadminister controlled dangerous substances, or may cause the same to\n\nbe administered by medical or paramedical personnel acting under the\n\ndirection and supervision of the physician, podiatrist, optometrist,\n\nor dentist, and only may dispense controlled dangerous substances\n\npursuant to the provisions of Sections 355.1 and 355.2 of Title 59\n\nof the Oklahoma Statutes.\n\nB. A veterinarian who has complied with the registration\n\nrequirements of the Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substances Act, in\n\ngood faith and in the course of the professional practice of the\n\nveterinarian only, and not for use by a human being, may prescribe,\n\nadminister, and dispense controlled dangerous substances and may\n\ncause them to be administered by an assistant or orderly under the\n\ndirection and supervision of the veterinarian.\n\nC. An Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who is recognized to\n\nprescribe by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing as a Certified Nurse\n\nPractitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, or Certified Nurse-Midwife\n\nand who has complied with the registration requirements of the\n\nUniform Controlled Dangerous Substances Act, in good faith and in\n\nthe course of professional practice only, may prescribe and\n\nadminister Schedule III, IV, and V controlled dangerous substances.\n\nIf the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse has not obtained\n\nindependent prescriptive authority under Section 1 of this act, he\n\nor she may only prescribe and administer such controlled dangerous\n\nsubstances under the supervision of a supervising physician in\n\naccordance with the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act and Section 4 of\n\nthis act and shall not prescribe or administer any controlled\n\ndangerous substance in a schedule that the supervising physician is\n\nnot registered to prescribe and administer.\n\nD. An Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who is recognized to\n\norder, select, obtain, and administer drugs by the Oklahoma Board of\n\nNursing as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist pursuant to\n\nSection 353.1b of Title 59 of the Oklahoma Statutes and who has\n\ncomplied with the registration requirements of the Uniform\n\nControlled Dangerous Substances Act, in good faith and in the course\n\nof such practitioner’s professional practice only, may order,\n\nselect, obtain, and administer Schedules II through V controlled\n\ndangerous substances in a preanesthetic preparation or evaluation;\n\nanesthesia induction, maintenance, or emergence; or postanesthesia\n\ncare setting only. A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist may\n\norder, select, obtain, and administer such drugs only during the\n\nperioperative or periobstetrical period.\n\nE. A physician assistant who is recognized to prescribe by the\n\nState Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision under the medical\n\ndirection of a supervising physician, pursuant to Section 519.6 of\n\nTitle 59 of the Oklahoma Statutes, and who has complied with the\n\nregistration requirements of the Uniform Controlled Dangerous\n\nSubstances Act, in good faith and in the course of professional\n\npractice only, may prescribe and administer Schedule II through V\n\ncontrolled dangerous substances.","path":["OK Code","Title 63"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os63.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"e43743c2f4c37396045d42006f8470ae731acd0599ca76ad2dc4d7af6427411a","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-2-312v1","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-2-313"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
