The State Department of Health shall establish a certificate\n\nfor community health workers. This certification shall be\n\nvoluntary.\n\nB. A certified community health worker may:\n\n1. Serve as a liaison between health and social services and\n\nthe community to facilitate access to services, to improve the\n\nquality of service delivery, and to maximize the efficiency of\n\nservice delivery by coordinating available resources and leveraging\n\npartnerships with private, nonprofit, or faith-based organizations;\n\n2. Assist individuals in attaining employment, education,\n\noccupational training, or other means of supporting employment and\n\npromoting self-sufficiency;\n\n3. Assist in identifying and communicating gaps in current\n\ncommunity and health care resources; and\n\n4. Build individual and community capacity by increasing health\n\nknowledge and self-sufficiency through a range of activities such as\n\noutreach, community education, coaching, mentoring, social support,\n\nand advocacy, including efforts within faith-based settings.\n\nC.
