It shall be the intent of the Legislature that each blood\n\nservice system operating in this state use only blood and blood\n\nproducts obtained from volunteer donors, except in an emergency\n\ncalling for a rare blood type that is not available from a nonpaid\n\ndonor or in an unusual disaster situation when normal supply is\n\ninterrupted or depleted. Blood collected from inmates in\n\ncorrectional facilities shall not be used to transfuse patients in\n\nthis state.\n\nB. Blood solicitation or donation as a prerequisite for\n\nsurgical or medical reasons is hereby prohibited.\n\nC. Every blood donor organization shall adopt policies and\n\nprocedures for directed blood donations. Such designated donations\n\nmust be medically suitable of purpose, safety, and acceptability to\n\nthe body of the recipient.\n\nD. Appeals for blood donations should be directed at the\n\ncommunity at large, including organized groups within the community.\n\nWhile appeals to the family and friends of the hospitalized patients\n\nare an acceptable part of total donor recruitment program, blood\n\nservice establishments should exercise discretion in such appeals\n\nand should carefully avoid the use of any undue pressure or\n\ncoercion.","path":["OK Code","Title 63"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os63.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"dc226c273a462ee2c5aa125a370e612734c07ef8676df756ad72c135b0497ef3","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-2166","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-2167.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
