A medical examiner shall cooperate with procurement\n\norganizations to maximize the opportunity to recover anatomical\n\ngifts for the purpose of transplantation, therapy, research, or\n\neducation.\n\nB. If a medical examiner receives notice from a procurement\n\norganization that an anatomical gift might be available or was made\n\nwith respect to a decedent whose body is under the jurisdiction of\n\nthe medical examiner and a postmortem examination is going to be\n\nperformed, unless the medical examiner denies recovery in accordance\n\nwith Section 23 of this act, the medical examiner or designee shall\n\nconduct a postmortem examination of the body or the part in a manner\n\nand within a period compatible with its preservation for the\n\npurposes of the gift.\n\nC. A part may not be removed from the body of a decedent under\n\nthe jurisdiction of a medical examiner for transplantation, therapy,\n\nresearch, or education unless the part is the subject of an\n\nanatomical gift. The body of a decedent under the jurisdiction of\n\nthe medical examiner may not be delivered to a person for research\n\nor education unless the body is the subject of an anatomical gift.\n\nThis subsection does not preclude a medical examiner from performing\n\nthe medicolegal investigation upon the body or parts of a decedent\n\nunder the jurisdiction of the medical examiner.","path":["OK Code","Title 63"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os63.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"6c5944ef8483219859fe10785f37b8304beed54f5919631a5723ff68c6bad411","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-2200.21a","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-2200.23a"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
