Stat. tit. 63, § 63-2561","heading":"Legislative findings and declarations","body":"The Legislature finds and declares that:\n\n1. Physical and mental disabilities, age or chronic illness\n\nshould in no way diminish a person's right to life, human dignity\n\nand equal access to medical care;\n\n2. Historically, persons with disabilities, advanced age or\n\nchronic illness have faced discrimination in the health care system,\n\nincluding the denial of access to life-sustaining care;\n\n3. Such discrimination is inconsistent with our society's\n\ncommitment to human dignity and the full inclusion of persons with\n\ndisabilities throughout society;\n\n4. Lack of access to appropriate health care can result in\n\nsignificant adverse health consequences for persons with\n\ndisabilities, those with chronic illness, and those of advanced age,\n\nincluding loss of function, reduced quality of life or even death;\n\nand\n\n5.
