Stat. tit. 63, § 63-2846","heading":"Mandatory provision of emergency telephone service –","body":"Confidentiality - Liability.\n\nA. All local exchange companies, and wireless and other\n\ntelephone service companies providing service to users in an area in\n\nwhich 9-1-1 emergency telephone service is currently operating shall\n\nalso provide emergency telephone service to all subscribing service\n\nusers in that area. Wireless and other telephone service companies\n\nshall provide information necessary for automatic number\n\nidentification, automatic location identification and selective\n\nrouting of 9-1-1 emergency wireless calls to cities and counties\n\nanswering emergency telephone calls for maintenance of existing 9-1-\n\n1 databases. If the state or an area of the state is utilizing a\n\nNext Generation 9-1-1 system that uses the National Emergency Number\n\nAssociation (NENA) i3 standard for call delivery, then the service\n\ncompany shall provide the data elements required by the standard.\n\nThe governing body may reasonably require sufficient information to\n\nensure compliance with this section and to provide data for audit\n\nand budgetary calculation purposes.\n\nB. Information that a wireless service provider is required to\n\nfurnish in providing 9-1-1 service is confidential and exempt from\n\ndisclosure. The wireless service provider is not liable to any\n\nperson who uses a 9-1-1 service created under this title for the\n\nrelease of information furnished by the wireless service provider in\n\nproviding 9-1-1 service.
