Stat. tit. 63, § 63-3131.3","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in the Oklahoma Do-Not-Resuscitate Act:\n\n1. \"Attending physician\" means a licensed physician who has\n\nprimary responsibility for treatment or care of the person. If more\n\nthan one physician shares that responsibility, any of those\n\nphysicians may act as the attending physician under the provisions\n\nof the Oklahoma Do-Not-Resuscitate Act;\n\n2. \"Cardiopulmonary resuscitation\" means those measures used to\n\nrestore or support cardiac or respiratory function in the event of a\n\ncardiac or respiratory arrest;\n\n3. \"Do-not-resuscitate identification\" means a standardized\n\nidentification necklace, bracelet, or card as set forth in the\n\nOklahoma Do-Not-Resuscitate Act that signifies that a do-not-\n\nresuscitate consent or order has been executed for the possessor;\n\n4. \"Do-not-resuscitate order\" means an order issued by a\n\nlicensed physician that cardiopulmonary resuscitation should not be\n\nadministered to a particular person;\n\n5. \"Emergency medical services personnel\" means firefighters,\n\nlaw enforcement officers, emergency medical technicians, paramedics,\n\nor other emergency services personnel, providers, or entities,\n\nacting within the usual course of their professions;\n\n6. \"Health care decision\" means a decision to give, withhold,\n\nor withdraw informed consent to any type of health care including,\n\nbut not limited to, medical and surgical treatments including life-\n\nprolonging interventions, nursing care, hospitalization, treatment\n\nin a nursing home or other extended care facility, home health care,\n\nand the gift or donation of a body organ or tissue;\n\n7. \"Health care agency\" means an agency established to\n\nadminister or provide health care services and which is commonly\n\nknown by a wide variety of titles including, but not limited to,\n\nhospitals, medical centers, ambulatory health care facilities,\n\nphysicians' offices and clinics, extended care facilities operated\n\nin connection with hospitals, nursing homes, extended care\n\nfacilities operated in connection with rehabilitation centers, home\n\ncare agencies and hospices;\n\n8. \"Health care provider\" means any physician, dentist, nurse,\n\nparamedic, psychologist, or other person providing medical, dental,\n\nnursing, psychological, hospice, or other health care services of\n\nany kind;\n\n9. \"Incapacity\" means the inability, because of physical or\n\nmental impairment, to appreciate the nature and implications of a\n\nhealth care decision, to make an informed choice regarding the\n\nalternatives presented, and to communicate that choice in an\n\nunambiguous manner; and\n\n10. \"Representative\" means an attorney-in-fact for health care\n\ndecisions acting pursuant to the Oklahoma Health Care Agent Act, a\n\nhealth care proxy acting pursuant to the Oklahoma Advance Directive\n\nAct, or a guardian of the person appointed under the Oklahoma\n\nGuardianship and Conservatorship Act.","path":["OK Code","Title 63"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os63.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"0fda47110171bc73ad87b2b6e54117cf4b053ee9a31f9458107918da17220ffe","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-3131.2","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-3131.4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
