No health care provider, health care agency, or individual\n\nemployed by, acting as the agent of, or under contract with any such\n\nhealth care provider, health care agency, or individual shall be\n\nsubject to criminal prosecution, civil liability, or discipline for\n\nunprofessional conduct for carrying out in good faith a do-not-\n\nresuscitate consent or order authorized by the Oklahoma Do-Not-\n\nResuscitate Act on behalf of a person as instructed by the person or\n\nrepresentative or for those actions taken in compliance with the\n\nstandards and procedures set forth in the Oklahoma Do-Not-\n\nResuscitate Act.\n\nB. No health care provider, health care agency, individual\n\nemployed by, acting as agent of, or under contract with any such\n\nhealth care provider, health care agency or individual or other\n\nindividual who witnesses a cardiac or respiratory arrest shall be\n\nsubject to criminal prosecution, civil liability or discipline for\n\nunprofessional conduct for providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation\n\nto a person for whom a do-not-resuscitate consent or order has been\n\nissued; provided, that such individual:\n\n1. Reasonably and in good faith was unaware of the issuance of\n\na do-not-resuscitate consent or order; or\n\n2. Reasonably and in good faith believed that consent to a do-\n\nnot-resuscitate order had been revoked or canceled.\n\nC. Any physician who refuses to issue a do-not-resuscitate\n\norder at a person's request or any health care provider or health\n\ncare agency who refuses to comply with a do-not-resuscitate consent\n\nor order entered pursuant to the Oklahoma Do-Not-Resuscitate Act\n\nshall take reasonable steps to advise the person or representative\n\nof the person promptly that the physician is unwilling to effectuate\n\nthe consent or order and shall as promptly as practicable take all\n\nreasonable steps to arrange care of the person by another physician\n\nor health care provider.","path":["OK Code","Title 63"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os63.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"d40a473d15ace72a86bdea794c5a753b215f16838424d2132940e25d42fdaf5d","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-3131.7","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-3131.9"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
