Stat. tit. 63, § 63-485.1","heading":"Purpose of act","body":"The purpose of Sections 485.1 through 485.8 of this title shall\n\nbe to provide a specialized hospital, which shall be named the J.D.\n\nMcCarty Center for Children with Developmental Disabilities, for the\n\ncare, maintenance, training, treatment, and general mental and\n\nphysical rehabilitation of the residents of the state, and when\n\nspace permits nonresidents, who may be afflicted with cerebral palsy\n\nor other developmental disabilities, provided that such specialized\n\nhospital shall be able to refuse admission to those patients who\n\nafter competent examination are determined to be unable to benefit\n\nfrom such training, treatment, and general mental and physical\n\nrehabilitation, and provided that such specialized hospital shall be\n\nable to discharge and return any child to its parent or guardian if\n\nit is determined after admission that such training, treatment, and\n\ngeneral mental and physical rehabilitation is not aiding the child.\n\nEducational services that may be required during an inpatient stay\n\nshall be arranged through and provided by the appropriate local\n\neducation area (LEA).
