The Oklahoma Health Care Authority shall examine the\n\nfeasibility of a state plan amendment to the Oklahoma Medicaid\n\nProgram for diabetes self-management training (DSMT).\n\nB. By December 1, 2018, the Authority shall submit a report to\n\nthe President Pro Tempore of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of\n\nRepresentatives and the Governor estimating the potential costs to\n\nthe state, clinical findings, reviews of pilot projects and research\n\nfrom other states on the effects of DSMT on persons with a diabetes\n\ndiagnosis.\n\nC. Beginning July 1, 2019, and subject to the availability of\n\nfunding, the Authority shall draft a state plan amendment for DSMT\n\nfor persons with a diabetes diagnosis. The provisions of this\n\nsubsection shall only apply if the report required by subsection B\n\nof this section demonstrates DSMT to be evidence-based and essential\n\nto qualifying participants in the Oklahoma Medicaid Program.\n\nD. As used in this section, \"diabetes self-management training\n\n(DSMT)\" means the process of facilitating the knowledge, skill and\n\nability necessary for diabetes self-care. This process requires\n\nincorporating the patient's unique needs and experiences into an\n\nindividualized education and support plan that promotes new\n\nbehaviors and solutions, including, but not limited to, healthy\n\neating, physical activity, self-monitoring and medication use.","path":["OK Code","Title 63"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os63.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"c855044d511a23e1b98ac4e101e248811ae54f7c96b8fc5f9e07616c8f19039c","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-5009.4","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-5009.7"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
