Stat. tit. 63, § 63-5026.1","heading":"Annual review of all medications and forms of treatment","body":"for sickle cell disease.\n\nA. The Oklahoma Health Care Authority shall conduct an annual\n\nreview of all medications and forms of treatment for sickle cell\n\ndisease and services for enrollees with a diagnosis of sickle cell\n\ndisease. The purpose of the annual review is to determine if the\n\navailable covered medications, treatments, and services are adequate\n\nto meet the needs of enrollees with a diagnosis of sickle cell\n\ndisease, and whether the Authority should seek to add or recommend\n\nadditional medications, treatments, or services.\n\nB. The review shall include, but not be limited to:\n\n1. The extent to which healthcare transitional programs covered\n\nunder the state Medicaid program prepare, transfer, and integrate\n\nemerging adults into the adult care setting from a pediatric\n\nsetting;\n\n2. The extent to which emergency department providers are\n\nadequately trained and otherwise prepared to treat and manage sickle\n\ncell patients presenting with vaso-occlusive crises including but\n\nnot limited to the extent to which providers follow clinically\n\nvalidated algorithms and protocols regarding such treatment and\n\nmanagement;\n\n3. The extent to which sickle cell patients covered under the\n\nstate Medicaid program are entitled to receive the same standard of\n\ncare when referred or transferred to an out-of-state facility, and\n\nthe extent to which the state reimburses such patients for\n\nreasonable interstate travel costs; and\n\n4. Any additional areas identified by the Authority that impact\n\nthe care and treatment of individuals in this state living with\n\nsickle cell disease or sickle cell trait.\n\nC. When conducting the annual review required by this section,\n\nthe Authority shall solicit and consider input from the general\n\npublic, with specific emphasis on seeking input from persons or\n\ngroups with knowledge and experience in the area of sickle cell\n\ndisease treatment.\n\nD. To the extent practicable, the Authority shall utilize the\n\nOklahoma State Health Information Network and Exchange created under\n\nSection 1-133 of Title 63 of the Oklahoma Statutes to collect\n\ninformation for the purpose of implementing this section.\n\nE. On or before January 15, 2023, and on or before January 15\n\neach year thereafter, the Authority shall submit a report to the\n\nPresident Pro Tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of\n\nRepresentatives for distribution to the appropriate subject matter\n\ncommittees that details the Authority's findings from the annual\n\nreview required by this section and any recommendations to the\n\nLegislature based upon those findings.
