Stat. tit. 63, § 63-684.26","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in the Uniform Emergency Volunteer Health Practitioners\n\nAct:\n\n1. \"Disaster relief organization\" means an entity that provides\n\nemergency or disaster relief services that include health or\n\nveterinary services provided by volunteer health practitioners and\n\nthat:\n\na. is designated or recognized as a provider of those\n\nservices pursuant to a disaster response and recovery\n\nplan adopted by an agency of the federal government or\n\nthe State Department of Health, and\n\nb. regularly plans and conducts its activities in\n\ncoordination with an agency of the federal government\n\nor the State Department of Health;\n\n2. \"Emergency\" means an event or condition that is an emergency\n\npursuant to the Oklahoma Emergency Management Act of 2003 or the\n\nCatastrophic Health Emergency Powers Act;\n\n3. \"Emergency declaration\" means a declaration of emergency\n\nissued by a person authorized to do so under the laws of this state\n\npursuant to the Oklahoma Emergency Management Act of 2003 or the\n\nCatastrophic Health Emergency Powers Act;\n\n4. \"Emergency Management Assistance Compact\" means the\n\ninterstate compact approved by Congress by Public Law No. 104-\n\n321,110 Stat. 3877;\n\n5. \"Entity\" means a person other than an individual;\n\n6. \"Health facility\" means an entity licensed under the laws of\n\nthis or another state to provide health or veterinary services;\n\n7. \"Health practitioner\" means an individual licensed under the\n\nlaws of this or another state to provide health or veterinary\n\nservices;\n\n8. \"Health services\" means the provision of treatment, care,\n\nadvice or guidance, or other services, or supplies, related to the\n\nhealth or death of individuals or human populations, to the extent\n\nnecessary to respond to an emergency, including:\n\na. the following, concerning the physical or mental\n\ncondition or functional status of an individual or\n\naffecting the structure or function of the body:\n\n(1) preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic,\n\nrehabilitative, maintenance, or palliative care,\n\nand\n\n(2) counseling, assessment, procedures, or other\n\nservices,\n\nb. sale or dispensing of a drug, a device, equipment, or\n\nanother item to an individual in accordance with a\n\nprescription, and\n\nc. funeral, cremation, cemetery, or other mortuary\n\nservices;\n\n9. \"Host entity\" means an entity operating in this state which\n\nuses volunteer health practitioners to respond to an emergency;\n\n10. \"License\" means authorization by a state to engage in\n\nhealth or veterinary services that are unlawful without the\n\nauthorization and includes authorization under the laws of this\n\nstate to an individual to provide health or veterinary services\n\nbased upon a national certification issued by a public or private\n\nentity;\n\n11. \"Person\" means an individual, corporation, business trust,\n\ntrust, partnership, limited liability company, association, joint\n\nventure, public corporation, government or governmental subdivision,\n\nagency, or instrumentality, or any other legal or commercial entity;\n\n12. \"Scope of practice\" means the extent of the authorization\n\nto provide health or veterinary services granted to a health\n\npractitioner by a license issued to the practitioner in the state in\n\nwhich the principal part of the practitioner's services are\n\nrendered, including any conditions imposed by the licensing\n\nauthority;\n\n13. \"State\" means a state of the United States, the District of\n\nColumbia, Puerto Rico, the United States Virgin Islands, or any\n\nterritory or insular possession subject to the jurisdiction of the\n\nUnited States;\n\n14. \"Veterinary services\" means the provision of treatment,\n\ncare, advice or guidance, or other services, or supplies, related to\n\nthe health or death of an animal or to animal populations, to the\n\nextent necessary to respond to an emergency, including, but not\n\nlimited to:\n\na. diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of an animal\n\ndisease, injury, or other physical or mental condition\nUnited States;\n\n14. \"Veterinary services\" means the provision of treatment,\n\ncare, advice or guidance, or other services, or supplies, related to\n\nthe health or death of an animal or to animal populations, to the\n\nextent necessary to respond to an emergency, including, but not\n\nlimited to:\n\na. diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of an animal\n\ndisease, injury, or other physical or mental condition\n\nby the prescription, administration, or dispensing of\n\nvaccine, medicine, surgery, or therapy,\n\nb. use of a procedure for reproductive management, and\n\nc. monitoring and treatment of animal populations for\n\ndiseases that have spread or demonstrate the potential\n\nto spread to humans; and\n\n15. \"Volunteer health practitioner\" means a health practitioner\n\nwho provides health or veterinary services, whether or not the\n\npractitioner receives compensation for those services and does not\n\ninclude a practitioner who receives compensation pursuant to a\n\npreexisting employment relationship with a host entity or affiliate\n\nwhich requires the practitioner to provide health services in this\n\nstate, unless the practitioner is not a resident of this state and\n\nis employed by a disaster relief organization providing services in\n\nthis state while an emergency declaration is in effect.","path":["OK Code","Title 63"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os63.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"c986efbde5341cae143a85fb3cf065c439997f77e6f87e6737a59e9b571ae966","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-684.25","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-684.27"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
