All human deaths of the types listed herein shall be\n\ninvestigated as provided by law:\n\n1. Violent deaths, whether apparently homicidal, suicidal, or\n\naccidental;\n\n2. Deaths under suspicious, unusual or unnatural circumstances;\n\n3. Deaths related to disease which might constitute a threat to\n\npublic health;\n\n4. Deaths unattended by a licensed physician for a fatal or\n\npotentially fatal illness;\n\n5. Deaths that are medically unexpected and that occur in the\n\ncourse of a therapeutic procedure;\n\n6. Deaths of any persons detained or occurring in custody of\n\nthe Department of Corrections or a county jail;\n\n7. Deaths of persons whose bodies are to be cremated,\n\ntransported out of the state, donated to educational entities, to\n\ninclude limited portions of the body, or otherwise made ultimately\n\nunavailable for pathological study; and\n\n8. Maternal deaths that occur during pregnancy or within one\n\n(1) year of termination of pregnancy reported by a hospital or\n\nbirthing center under Section 2 of this act.\n\nB.
