All law enforcement officers and other state and county\n\nofficials shall cooperate with the Chief Medical Examiner and all\n\nother medical examiners in making investigations required pursuant\n\nto the provisions of Sections 931 through 954 of this title. The\n\nofficials and the physician in attendance of the deceased, or other\n\npersons when the deceased was unattended by a physician, shall\n\npromptly notify the medical examiner of the occurrence of all deaths\n\ncoming to their attention which, pursuant to the provisions of\n\nSections 931 through 954 of this title, are subject to\n\ninvestigation, and shall assist in making dead bodies and related\n\nevidence available for investigation.\n\nSubject to the provisions of Sections 931 through 954 of this\n\ntitle, bodies shall not be disturbed until authorized by the Chief\n\nMedical Examiner or his or her designee and the representative of\n\nany law enforcement agency which has begun an investigation of the\n\ncause of death. The authorization may be given by telephone.\n\nNothing in Sections 931 through 954 of this title shall prevent the\n\ndistrict attorney, or his or her designee, or the responding law\n\nenforcement officer from authorizing the removal of a body when the\n\nremoval is determined to be in the public interest and conditions at\n\nthe scene are adequately documented and preserved by photographs and\n\nmeasurements.\n\nB. The death of any patient, inmate, ward, or veteran in a\n\nstate hospital or other institution shall be reported by the chief\n\nadministrative officer of the hospital or institution or his or her\n\ndesignee to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner at the time of\n\nthe death and prior to release of the body.\n\n1. Within thirty-six (36) hours, a written report shall be\n\nsubmitted and shall be accompanied by true and correct copies of all\n\nmedical records of the hospital or institution concerning the\n\ndeceased patient.\n\n2.
