The Board of Medicolegal Investigations may establish a fee\n\nschedule for forensic services, permits and reports rendered to\n\nmembers of the public and other agencies.\n\n1. No fee schedule may be established or amended by the Board\n\nexcept during a regular legislative session. The Board shall comply\n\nwith the Administrative Procedures Act for adoption of rules and\n\nestablishing or amending any such fee schedule.\n\n2. Except as otherwise specified in this section, the Board\n\nshall charge fees only within the following ranges:\n\na. permit for cremations that occur within the state:\n\nTwo Hundred Dollars ($200.00) to Two Hundred Seventy-\n\nfive Dollars ($275.00),\n\nb. forensic science service: One Hundred Dollars\n\n($100.00) to Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00),\n\nc. report copies: Ten Dollars ($10.00) for report of\n\ninvestigation, including toxicology, and Twenty\n\nDollars ($20.00) for an autopsy report, including\n\ntoxicology,\n\nd. x-rays: Fifteen Dollars ($15.00) each,\n\ne. microscopic slides, Hematoxylin, and Eosin (H\u0026E): Ten\n\nDollars ($10.00) each,\n\nf. special stains: Fifteen Dollars ($15.00) each, and\n\ng. photographs: Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) per compact\n\ndisc (CD) or other suitable digital storage media.\n\n3. Medical examiner permit certificates shall be required in\n\ncases investigated solely for the purpose of issuing a permit for\n\ntransporting a body out of state.\n\n4. The Board of Medicolegal Investigations shall charge a fee\n\nfor an investigation and issuance of an out-of-state transport\n\npermit for human remains.\n\n5. An out-of-state transport permit and cremation permit shall\n\nboth be required for bodies containing body parts sent out of state\n\nor out of country, while remaining body parts remain unused.\n\nB. The Board shall base the fee schedule for forensic science\n\nservices, permits and reports upon reasonable costs of review,\n\ninvestigation and forensic science service delivery; provided,\n\nhowever, the fee schedule shall be within the ranges specified in\n\nsubsection A of this section. The Board shall continue a system of\n\nbasic and continuing educational service and training for all\n\npersonnel who render forensic science services in order to ensure\n\nuniform statewide application of the rules of the Board. The Board\n\nshall consider the reasonable costs associated with such training\n\nand continuing education in setting the forensic science service\n\nfees.\n\nC. The Board may exempt by rule any agency or class of\n\nindividuals from the requirements of the fee schedule if the Board\n\ndetermines that the fees would cause an unreasonable economic\n\nhardship or would otherwise hinder or conflict with an agency’s\n\nresponsibilities.\n\nD. All statutory fees currently in effect for permits or\n\nforensic science services administered by the Chief Medical Examiner\n\nand the Board of Medicolegal Investigations within the jurisdiction\n\nof the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner shall remain in effect\n\nuntil such time as the Board acts to implement new schedules\n\npursuant to the provisions of this section and Section 948 of this\n\ntitle.","path":["OK Code","Title 63"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os63.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"dbf65c284971260106c17c87b9122e000d56cbed577499ccc4854e123e9a6036","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-948","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-63-63-949"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
