Stat. tit. 64, § 64-1005","heading":"Administration of Office – Appointment and duties of","body":"Secretary.\n\nA. The Land Office shall be administered by the Secretary of\n\nthe Land Office under the supervision of the Commissioners of the\n\nLand Office. The Secretary shall, subject to the qualifications\n\nlisted in subsection B of this section, be appointed by the Governor\n\nwith the advice and consent of the Commissioners of the Land Office.\n\nIt shall be the duty of the Secretary to execute, under the\n\nsupervision of the Commissioners of the Land Office, the provisions\n\nof the Enabling Act of Oklahoma as it relates to the management of\n\nschool lands and other public lands, the Constitution of the State\n\nof Oklahoma, and all laws, regulations, and duties pertaining to the\n\nCommissioners of the Land Office and to carry into execution the\n\nwill of the Commissioners of the Land Office not in conflict with\n\nany law.\n\nB. The Secretary of the Land Office shall:\n\n1. Possess an advanced degree from an accredited college or\n\nuniversity;\n\n2. Have not less than five (5) years experience in government,\n\nlaw or finance; and\n\n3. Meet other specific requirements as specified by the\n\nCommissioners of the Land Office.\n\nC. The Secretary of the Land Office shall serve a four-year\n\nterm of service concurrent with the term of the appointing Governor\n\nand the other elected officials on the Commission. The Secretary\n\nmay serve consecutive terms and may serve past the term of the\n\nappointing Governor only until a successor is appointed. If the\n\nappointment is terminated or if the Secretary resigns, becomes\n\nincapacitated or for any reason is unable to perform the duties of\n\nthe Secretary, the Commissioners may appoint an acting Secretary\n\nuntil a replacement may be appointed to complete the term as\n\nprovided for in this section.","path":["OK Code","Title 64"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os64.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"e08bd2e16ab4bd3c8f35c1fae86a276793bace83657becc2d14c081ad1d496da","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-64-64-1004","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-64-64-1006"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
