Stat. tit. 64, § 64-1042","heading":"Limitations of purchase","body":"No person shall be permitted to purchase more than one quarter\n\nsection of land under the provisions of this article, except as\n\nprovided by the terms of the Enabling Act: Provided, however, that\n\nthe land granted to the state under and by virtue of Section 12, of\n\nthe Enabling Act, commonly called \"new college lands\" shall be\n\nclassified by the Commissioners of the Land Office from the\n\nappraisement heretofore made as agricultural and grazing lands. All\n\nof said land which has of its surface twelve and one-half percent\n\n(12 1/2%) or more and less than thirty-seven and one-half percent\n\n(37 1/2%) that is tillable, productive and suitable for farming\n\npurposes, shall be classified as Class A, and said class of grazing\n\nlands shall be sold in tracts not to exceed one section; and all\n\nland having less than twelve and one-half percent (12 1/2%) of its\n\nsurface that is tillable, productive and suitable for farming\n\npurposes, or that is rough, mountainous or barren, shall be\n\nclassified as Class B, and sold in tracts not to exceed two (2)\n\nsections, if in the opinion of the Commissioners of the Land Office\n\nit is deemed best and proper.\n\nR.L. 1910, § 7146.
