Stat. tit. 65, § 65-2-106","heading":"Powers and duties of the Board","body":"The Oklahoma Department of Libraries Board shall be the\n\nsupervisory and policymaking body of the Department and shall:\n\n(a) Appoint the Director, who shall possess the qualifications\n\nspecified by Section 3-103 of this title, and shall hold office at\n\nthe pleasure of the Board;\n\n(b) Formulate the general policies of the Oklahoma Department of\n\nLibraries, in consultation with the Director;\n\n(c) Review and approve the budget requests for the Department;\n\n(d) Formulate standards for public and special libraries in\n\nconsultation with the Director and his staff, and with the Oklahoma\n\nLibrary Association;\n\n(e) Utilize such standards as guidelines in accreditation of\n\npublic libraries and library systems;\n\n(f) Utilize such standards and accreditation as guidelines in\n\napproval of apportionment of state funds of federal funds such as\n\nmay be administered by a state agency to public libraries, library\n\nsystems and special libraries and their use of such funds;\n\n(g) Serve as an appeal board in the execution of the Library\n\nServices Construction Act, 20 U.S.C. Section 351(1991), including\n\nany amendments thereto, and any similar federal legislative acts\n\nrequiring such services;\n\n(h) Approve the formation of library systems and designate areas\n\nfor library districts;\n\n(i) Maintain liaison with the Oklahoma Library Association;\n\n(j) Assist in communicating the goals, plans, budgets and work\n\nof the Department to executive, judicial and legislative officials,\n\nand to the public;\n\n(k) Provide for the certification of public librarians;\n\n(l) Establish a formula for the equitable apportionment of\n\nmonies from the Oklahoma Local Library Support Revolving Fund; and\n\n(m) Promulgate such rules as may be necessary to carry out the\n\nintent and purposes of this act.","path":["OK Code","Title 65"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os65.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"12ef338b814591c8e2862d8bd79ee95901dc6bd6d4f28c30e621ee6b1e1fb5d2","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-65-65-2-105","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-65-65-2-107"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
