Stat. tit. 65, § 65-4-116","heading":"Public library boards - Powers and duties","body":"The county public library board shall have the following powers\n\nand duties:\n\n(a) To operate and maintain a county library system and to\n\npromulgate such rules for the operation and maintenance thereof as\n\nmay be deemed necessary or expedient;\n\n(b) To employ a director who shall have the authority to employ\n\nnecessary staff and to terminate the employment of such staff upon\n\napproval of the board;\n\n(c) To purchase, lease, or otherwise acquire land or buildings\n\nor portions of buildings for library purposes;\n\n(d) To erect, maintain, and operate public library buildings at\n\none or more places in the county;\n\n(e) To accept transfer of any existing public library or\n\nlibraries by lease or other conveyance;\n\n(f) To acquire, by purchase or otherwise, books and other\n\npersonal property customarily used in the operation of public\n\nlibraries including necessary motor vehicles;\n\n(g) To sell and dispose of personal property acquired by\n\npurchase or other means when by proper resolution the county public\n\nlibrary board finds that said property is not needed for library\n\npurposes;\n\n(h) To accept, hold, and convey legal title to interests in real\n\nproperty in the name \"County Public Library Board of ________\n\nCounty\" which shall be its official name. Deeds or other\n\nconveyances of said interests in real property shall be executed for\n\nand on behalf of the board by the chairperson and shall be attested\n\nby the secretary;\n\n(i) To accept or in its discretion to decline donations tendered\n\nto the county library system;\n\n(j) To apply for funds from the Oklahoma Local Library Support\n\nRevolving Fund and provide any information requested by the Oklahoma\n\nDepartment of Libraries in order to qualify and receive such funds;\n\n(k) To administer the expenditure of any funds which become\n\navailable for library purposes from the Oklahoma Local Library\n\nSupport Revolving Fund and any other funds granted or donated to the\n\ncounty public library;\n\n(l) To borrow on the credit of the county public library board\n\nfor a period of time not to exceed one year; and\n\n(m) To do all other things necessary or desirable to carry out\n\nthe purposes and provisions of this act.","path":["OK Code","Title 65"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os65.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"e25723ac8818c50dcdc1a1ebfe3b77c355c78f6c2c9866edf23b3ef1a362853a","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-65-65-4-115","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-65-65-4-201"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
