Stat. tit. 65, § 65-558","heading":"Powers of commission","body":"Every metropolitan library commission created by this act shall\n\nhave all powers necessary or convenient for the accomplishment of\n\nthe purpose and provisions hereof, including, in addition to others\n\nherein granted, the following powers:\n\n(a) To operate and maintain a city-county library system and to\n\nadopt such rules and regulations for the operation thereof as may be\n\ndeemed necessary or expedient.\n\n(b) To purchase, lease, or otherwise acquire land or buildings\n\nor portions of buildings for library purposes.\n\n(c) To erect, maintain, and operate public library buildings at\n\none or more places in the county.\n\n(d) To accept transfer of any existing public library or\n\nlibraries by lease or other conveyance.\n\n(e) To acquire, by purchase or otherwise, books and other\n\npersonal property customarily used in the operation of public\n\nlibraries including necessary motor vehicles.\n\n(f) To sell and dispose of personal property acquired by\n\npurchase or other means when by proper resolution the commission\n\nfinds that said property is not needed for library purposes.\n\n(g) To accept, hold, and convey legal title to interests in real\n\nproperty in the name \"Metropolitan Library Commission of ________\n\nCounty\" which shall be its official name. Deeds or other\n\nconveyances of said interests in real property shall be executed for\n\nand on behalf of the commission by the chairman and shall be\n\nattested by the secretary.\n\n(h) To accept, or in its discretion to decline, donations\n\ntendered to the city-county library system.\n\n(i) To administer the expenditure of any funds which may become\n\navailable for library purposes pursuant to the provisions of Article\n\nX, Section 10A of the Constitution of the State of Oklahoma.\n\n(j) To borrow on the credit of the commission for a period of\n\ntime not to exceed one (1) year.\n\n(k) To do all other things necessary or desirable to carry out\n\nthe purposes and provisions of this act.","path":["OK Code","Title 65"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os65.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"8f5d59435a9b242d5a4fcecfbca67f715d8b2777c69318f0105c335d13431c41","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-65-65-557","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-65-65-559"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
