Stat. tit. 66, § 66-328","heading":"Powers and duties of Commission","body":"POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE COMMISSION\n\nA. The duties of the Commission are to:\n\n1. Secure the funding and authorization necessary to make\n\npassenger rail improvements a reality for the region;\n\n2. Examine and facilitate ways that states can form\n\npartnerships to implement improved passenger rail service in the\n\nregion;\n\n3. Create and facilitate a long-term, interstate plan for high-\n\nspeed rail passenger service implementation; and\n\n4. Serve as a liaison with Amtrak, the Federal Railroad\n\nAdministration, the High-Speed Ground Transportation Association,\n\nand other regions and entities to ensure that the Midwest is\n\nadequately represented and integrated into national plans for\n\npassenger rail development.\n\nB. In addition to its exercise of these duties, the Commission\n\nmay:\n\n1. Provide the multistate leadership necessary to implement the\n\nInterstate Midwest Regional Passenger Rail Compact;\n\n2. Work with local elected officials, economic development\n\nplanning organizations, and similar entities to raise the visibility\n\nof passenger rail service needs; and\n\n3.
