Stat. tit. 66, § 66-85","heading":"Must receive and forward freight - Rate of speed - Penalty","body":"When such freight in car loads or less is tendered to said\n\nstation agent and correct shipping instructions given, it shall be\n\nthe duty of said company immediately to receive the same for\n\nshipment and issue bills of lading therefor, and when such shipments\n\nhave been so received they must be carried forward at the rate of\n\nnot less than sixty (60) miles per day of twenty-four (24) hours,\n\ncomputing from seven o'clock a.m., of the day following receipt of\n\nthe same, except that if in case of fires, wrecks, destruction of\n\nbridges or tracks, or washouts, such company shall not be able to\n\ntransport said cars at the rate of sixty (60) miles per day then and\n\nin that event such company shall be released from such provision\n\nduring the time that such unavoidable obstacles exist; and for\n\nfailure to receive and transport such shipments within the time\n\nherein prescribed, said company shall forfeit and pay to the\n\nconsignee the sum of One Dollar ($1.00) per car per day or fraction\n\nof a day on all car load freight and one cent (0.01) per hundred\n\npounds per day, or fraction thereof on freight in less than car load\n\nlots, with minimum charge of five (0.05) cents for any one package,\n\ntogether with all actual damages the consignor or consignee may\n\nsustain thereby: Provided, that in computing the time of freight in\n\ntransit, there shall be allowed twenty-four (24) hours at each point\n\nwhere transferring from one railroad to another is involved.","path":["OK Code","Title 66"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os66.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"f73610afcc28ed8927080e400ee248943c40bc9b65375945adfef55212f3b3f3","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-66-66-82","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-66-66-86"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
