Stat. tit. 68, § 68-1701","heading":"Definitions","body":"\n\nAs used in Sections 1701 through 1707 of this title:\n\n1. \"Contractor\" includes all prime and general contractors,\n\nsubcontractors, independent contractors and persons engaged in\n\ncontract labor who through negotiations or competititve bidding\n\nenter into contracts to furnish labor, materials or both and the\n\nrequired equipment to perform the contract for a fixed price and who\n\nin pursuit of independent business undertake a job in whole or in\n\npart retaining substantial control of the method and manner of\n\naccomplishing the desired result and means any person, firm, joint\n\nventure, partnership, copartnership, association, corporation, or\n\nother organization engaged in the business of the construction,\n\nalteration, repairing, dismantling,or demolition of roads, bridges,\n\nviaducts, sewers, water and gas mains, streets,disposal plants,\n\nwater filters, tanks, towers, airports, buildings, dams, levees,\n\ncanals, railways and rail facilities, oil and gas wells, water\n\nwells, pipelines, refineries, industrial or processing plants,\n\nchemical plants, power plants, electric or telephone or any other\n\ntype of energy or message transmission lines or equipment, or any\n\nother type of construction excluding family farm operations. The\n\nterm contractor shall not include the state or any agency,\n\ninstitution, or political subdivision of the state or any duly\n\nconstituted authority of a political subdivision;\n\n2. \"Resident contractor\" means a contractor who maintains his\n\nprincipal place of business in this state or a multi state employer\n\nwho maintains a permanent work force of three or more employees in\n\nthis state;\n\n3. \"Nonresident contractor\" means a contractor who maintains\n\nhis principal place of business outside this state or a multi state\n\nemployer who does not maintain a permanent work force of three or\n\nmore employees in this state.","path":["OK Code","Title 68"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os68.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"cdf49d9c44f84dea47b50aee61f9d6cffcf639ec3a38cb9666e068f4d28aaf49","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-68-68-1643","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-68-68-1701.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
