The Tax Commission shall establish a taxpayer assistance\n\nprogram to provide information and problem-solving expertise to the\n\ngeneral public regarding the tax laws of this state. Said program\n\nshall include, but not be limited to, the following:\n\n1. The installation of toll-free telephone lines within the\n\nCommission in order to provide information and problem-solving\n\nassistance to the general public. Such telephone lines shall\n\nprovide access to Tax Commission employees who are specially trained\n\nand equipped to provide such assistance;\n\n2. The preparation and distribution of publications providing\n\ninformation to the taxpayer regarding the tax laws of this state.\n\nSuch publications shall be made available statewide; and\n\n3. The presentation of taxpayer education programs by specially\n\ntrained Tax Commission employees throughout the state to inform the\n\ngeneral public regarding the state tax laws and to provide problem-\n\nsolving assistance to taxpayers.\n\nB. The Tax Commission is authorized to expend necessary\n\navailable funds, including contracting with third parties, to\n\npublicly advertise the programs and assistance available for the\n\nfiling of returns and the payment of taxes and education of the tax\n\nlaws of this state.
