In any case where the county assessor or county board of\n\nequalization disallows or rejects an application for homestead\n\nexemption or changes the amount of said exemption from that claimed\n\nby the applicant, said applicant may obtain a hearing before the\n\ncounty board of equalization by filing a written complaint with the\n\nsecretary of said board within ten (10) days from receipt of the\n\nnotice from the county assessor or county board of equalization,\n\nshowing such rejection or change in amount, and said complaint shall\n\nspecify his grievances, and the pertinent facts in relation thereto,\n\nin ordinary and concise language and without repetition, and in such\n\nmanner as to enable a person of common understanding to know what is\n\nintended; and the county board of equalization shall be authorized\n\nand empowered to take evidence pertinent to said complaint; and for\n\nthat purpose, is authorized to compel the attendance of witnesses\n\nand the production of books, records and papers, by subpoena.\n\nB.
