Stat. tit. 68, § 68-2939","heading":"Political subdivisions may enter into agreements with","body":"federal government for payments for performance of services -\n\nCrediting payments - Estimates and appropriations.\n\nIf the United States declines to deal with the county treasurer\n\nwith respect to the county or any political subdivision whose\n\njurisdictional limits are within or coextensive with the limits of\n\nthe county, or in the event the jurisdictional limits of a\n\nsubdivision lie in more than one county, such political subdivision\n\nis authorized to make requests of the United States for such\n\npayments in lieu of taxes as the United States may agree to pay, and\n\nis hereby empowered to enter into agreements with the United States\n\nfor the performance by the political subdivision of services for the\n\nbenefit of a project, and for the payment by the United States to\n\nthe political subdivision in one or more installments, of sums in\n\nlieu of taxes. Such payments received by the county or any\n\npolitical subdivision shall be credited to the various funds of the\n\ncounty or subdivision receiving the payment in the same proportion\n\nthat ad valorem taxes levied by the county and subdivision for said\n\nyear are apportioned.
