Stat. tit. 69, § 69-1271","heading":"Legislative intent - Authority of State Highway","body":"Department.\n\nFor the purpose of promoting the public safety, health, welfare,\n\nconvenience and enjoyment of public travel, to protect the public\n\ninvestment in public highways, and to preserve and enhance the\n\nscenic beauty of lands bordering public highways, while recognizing\n\nthat outdoor advertising is a legitimate use of private property, it\n\nis hereby declared to be in the public interest to control the size,\n\nnumber, spacing, lighting, type and location of outdoor advertising\n\ndevices, as hereinafter defined, in all areas within six hundred\n\nsixty (660) feet from the edge of the right-of-way of interstate and\n\nfederal-aid primary highways located within urban areas, as\n\nhereinafter defined, in the State of Oklahoma and in all areas\n\nvisible and intended to be read from the main traveled way of\n\ninterstate and federal-aid primary highways located outside of urban\n\nareas in the State of Oklahoma. The Department of Transportation\n\nshall have the authority to implement and enforce this act, and may\n\nprohibit outdoor advertising devices in the control areas, and may\n\nregulate and permit certain outdoor advertising structures and\n\ndevices in the control areas, within the limitations of this act and\n\naccording to the standards and definitions set forth in this act.","path":["OK Code","Title 69"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os69.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"8bd75871d9584c46d0cce68a70b2511e11efc64b5e4eb7dbf9860d5db1aa203e","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-69-69-1264","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-69-69-1272"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
