SSG\n\nRuben Rivers was killed in action during World War II on November\n\n19, 1944. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his\n\nheroic efforts as a member of the 761st Tank Battalion, the first\n\nAfrican-American armored unit to serve in combat. In addition to\n\nthe Medal of Honor, Staff Sergeant Rivers was awarded the Silver\n\nStar for previous action with his battalion.
