Stat. tit. 69, § 69-303","heading":"Functions, powers and duties of Commission","body":"(a) The Commission shall constitute an advisory, administrative,\n\nand policy making board with which the Director shall from time to\n\ntime consult regarding the administration of the affairs of the\n\nDepartment. The Commission may require from the Director complete\n\nreports and information relative to the affairs of the Department at\n\nsuch time and in such manner as the Commission may deem advisable.\n\n(b) In addition to its other powers and duties, as herein\n\ndefined, the Commission shall have the following specific powers and\n\nduties:\n\n(1) To organize itself by the election of a chairman, vice-\n\nchairman and secretary, who shall perform the duties required of\n\nthem by the rules and regulations of the Commission, but shall\n\nreceive no extra compensation therefor;\n\n(2) To elect a State Highway Director and fix his salary within\n\nthe limits of this Code, who shall serve during the pleasure of the\n\nCommission, expressed by a majority vote of the entire Commission;\n\n(3) To prescribe rules, regulations, and policies for the\n\ntransaction of its business, and for the letting of all contracts\n\nand purchases;\n\n(4) To prescribe the manner of cooperation between county and\n\nmunicipal officials with the Commission;\n\n(5) Except as otherwise provided herein, to let or supervise the\n\nletting of all contracts for construction or improvements of state\n\nhighways, or any contract for road or bridge construction or\n\nimprovement where the work is being done in whole or in part with\n\nstate or federal monies;\n\n(6) To authorize all expenditures prior to the incurring\n\ntherefor, except as otherwise provided in this Code.\n\n(c) Each Commissioner shall aid in the promotion of highway\n\nconstruction, improvements, and maintenance throughout the entire\n\nstate, and shall not act as the special representative of the\n\nparticular district in which he resides.","path":["OK Code","Title 69"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os69.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"90718de53c35a1216366c956aaaaf114fb7aa5b78acb1b2de540d98cd6da4216","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-69-69-3020","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-69-69-303-a"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
