Stat. tit. 69, § 69-607","heading":"Intercounty bridges - Proceedings (Boundary bridges)","body":"(a) Whenever the public convenience justly demands it and the\n\nneed thereof shall be appropriately signified, as herein provided,\n\nthen the board of county commissioners must proceed as follows with\n\nrespect to intercounty bridges across streams serving in whole or in\n\npart as a boundary between two counties: After the presentation in\n\nthe case of a bridge to cost not over One Thousand Dollars\n\n($1,000.00), of a petition signed by at least fifty taxpayers of\n\neach county; to cost from One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) to Ten\n\nThousand Dollars ($10,000.00), by seventy-five taxpaying signers in\n\neach county; to cost more than Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00), by\n\none hundred taxpaying signers in each county, to the board of county\n\ncommissioners, it may within one (1) year proceed to act and\n\nconstruct the bridge if such levy as may be required for this\n\npurpose may be made within the constitutional limitation as to tax\n\nlevies; and such petitions or actions, at whatever stage, shall bind\n\nand have equal force with the successors in office to those\n\nCommissioners originally receiving it. The cost of the bridge shall\n\nbe apportioned between the counties upon the basis of their total\n\nvaluation, unless the boards of county commissioners in the exercise\n\nof sound judgment shall agree to apportion it otherwise.\n\n(b) The above proceeding shall not apply in the case of\n\nintercounty bridges where the total span is two hundred (200) feet\n\nor more, including approaches thereto of timber work or any material\n\nother than earth embankment, if there is another bridge of\n\nsubstantially equal size and importance over the same stream within\n\nsix (6) miles of the proposed location.","path":["OK Code","Title 69"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os69.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"fbdbd64a2c8b905ae00d1f583800e7aa0c5decec21fcaa3ffd1291f07bb5c230","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-69-69-606","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-69-69-608"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
