Stat. tit. 70, § 70-1-116.2","heading":"Application of medicine or sunscreen to students -","body":"Vaccinations.\n\nA. A school nurse, or in the absence of such nurse, an\n\nadministrator or designated school employees, pursuant to the\n\nwritten authorization of the parent or guardian of the student, may:\n\n1. Administer a nonprescription medicine;\n\n2. Assist a student in applying sunscreen, a compound topically\n\napplied to prevent a sunburn; and\n\n3. Administer a filled prescription medicine as that term is\n\ndefined by Section 353.1 of Title 59 of the Oklahoma Statutes\n\npursuant to the directions for the administration of the medicine\n\nlisted on the label or as otherwise authorized by a licensed\n\nphysician.\n\nB. In addition to the persons authorized to administer\n\nnonprescription medicine and filled prescription medicine pursuant\n\nto the provisions of subsection A of this section, a nurse employed\n\nby a county health department and subject to an agreement made\n\nbetween the county health department and the school district for\n\nmedical services, may administer nonprescription medicine and filled\n\nprescription medicine pursuant to the provisions of this section.\n\nC. Each school in which any medicine is administered pursuant\n\nto the provisions of subsection A of this section shall keep a\n\nrecord of the name of the student to whom the medicine was\n\nadministered, the date the medicine was administered, the name of\n\nthe person who administered the medicine and the type or name of the\n\nmedicine which was administered.\n\nD. Medicine to be administered by the county or school nurse,\n\nadministrator or the designated persons and which is stored at the\n\nschool shall be properly stored and not readily accessible to\n\npersons other than the persons who will administer the medication.\n\nE. 1. A public school shall permit a student to possess and\n\nself-apply sunscreen that is regulated by the Food and Drug\n\nAdministration without the written authorization of a parent, legal\n\nguardian or physician.\n\n2. As used in this subsection, \"sunscreen\" means a compound\n\ntopically applied to prevent sunburn.\n\nF. The school shall keep on file the written authorization of\n\nthe parent or guardian of the student to administer medicine to the\n\nstudent or to apply sunscreen on the student.\n\nG. As provided in the Parents' Bill of Rights, a student shall\n\nnot be vaccinated at school or on school grounds or receive a\n\nvaccine as part of the mobile vaccination effort without prior\n\nwritten authorization, including the signature of the parent or\n\nlegal guardian of the student for the vaccine or group of vaccines\n\nto be administered during a single visit.\n\nH. A school nurse, county nurse, administrator or the\n\ndesignated school employees shall not be liable to the student or a\n\nparent or guardian of the student for civil damages for any personal\n\ninjuries to the student which result from acts or omissions of the\n\nschool or county nurse, administrator or designated school employees\n\nin administering any medicine pursuant to the provisions of this\n\nsection.
